48 Hour Jam
A few months ago my daughter informed me that when she grew up she wanted to make games.
I decided that I would help her to reach that goal, even at the cost of my sanity.
3 days ago I entered into my first GameJam, I had reached out to a few people who said they wanted to help but in the end they all had other things to do.
I started with just a basic platform layout, and a concept one of my friends had... what if horses rode cowboys? It was too funny not to do a game about.
Unfortunately for me, I still don't grasp how to do a few things like parallax without having the objects "jump" with my player, and I spent too much time trying to figure out how that I forgot to include the enemy AI to move and attack. My boss. My win condition Bessie... she's there but on the wrong layer iirc.
A whole lot went wrong with making this, but also a whole lot went right.
I was able to do things for the Jam that I'll be able to use with my daughter to help her make her game, and if that's not the real goal then I don't know what is.
I hope you have fun playing this game, and lets be honest... I'll probably be updating it from time to time because it was a hoot to make and I know that if I could get the game in my head to match the one you see here then a lot of people would have a lot of fun saving cowgirls.
